Summer is the time when I try to grow flower pots on my back porch.  I get some flowers in a container from Lowes and transplant them to a pot.  If I water, fertilized, and spray for bugs they do okay.  What do you think would happen if you dug up the plants and put them in another pot every week or so?

           The author of Hebrews writes, "Do not forsake assembling together as some are in the habit of doing but encourage one another and all the more as you His soon return approaching." (Hebrews 10:25) Christians are part of the body of Christ; we need one another to grow.   Unfortunately I have noticed a devastating pattern with many Christians.  They get rooted in one church; then go to another church; then perhaps another church; and finally maybe no church at all.
            What happens ... they wilt!  It is like transplanting a plant from one pot to another on a regular basis, not allowing the plant to develop roots.  A recent article in Christianity Today said, "Spiritual formation occurs primarily in the context of community ... People who leave do not grow ...  We all know persons consumed with spiritual wanderlust. They move from church to church, avoiding conflict or searching for a church that will better satisfy their felt needs.  Like trees repeatedly transplanted from soil to soil, these spiritual nomads fail to put down roots, and they seldom experience lasting, fruitful growth in their Christian lives."
            They wilt!  And they don't even know it.
